CORE CURRICULUM

PVTC provides the crucial job training the community and its residents desperately need in the areas of building renovation, automotive repair, building maintenance and entrepreneurship.  All program instructors are "Master Trainers" who have been certified under the National Construction Center for Education and Research (NCCER).

The three-phase construction training program includes:

  • Classroom instruction

  • On-sitework experience

  • OSHA 30/10 certification training

This program builds the appropriate success plan which includes workforce preparation and basic safety training. Trainees will have hands-on training and learn the process of renovating a vacant house. All assessments will be based upon the NCCER Curriculum and be developed in conjunction with subject-matter experts from the industry and the test development partner of NCCER.

The program certification trainings will operate on an open-ended, six (6) month cycle, offering day and evening hours. Services are provided through various vehicles, i.e. workshops, group trainings, classes, seminars, and 1-on-1 trainings. Students will spend approximately 16 hours per week in the classroom for 4-6 weeks. Each trainee must successfully complete each individual course to continue on to the next subject. There will be a final exam that each participant must pass in order to progress to the next level. The workshop portion of the training program allows trainees to acquire skills and knowledge through hands-on experience at a mock work-site. Daily, trainees will participate in the entire process of building homes within our warehouse.
